HADRIAN AVILA ARZUZA
Maestro Hadrian Avila Arzuza graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory (Russia), where he was awarded Diploma of Honour as Symphonic and Operatic Conductor. He studied with Illya Musin, Alexander Titov and Alexander Polishuk.
He was an active student of Charles Dutoit and Kurt Masur at several master classes. Avila Arzuza was a finalist at the First Latin American Competition for Orchestra Conductors (Osesp Prize), held in Sao Paulo (Brazil, 2005). Since 2007, he has been the Artistic Director of Córdoba Symphony Orchestra (Argentina) where he has performed the most rigorous symphonic repertoire including works by composers such as Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Respighi, Bartok, Debussy, Ravel, Poulenc, R. Strauss, S. Prokofiev, Mahler, among others. He has been the Music Director of Tosca and Turandot by G. Puccini; Aida, Un ballo in maschera and Otello by G. Verdi, Carmen by G. Bizet, Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti and Evgeni Onegin for Teatro Libertador San Martín in Córdoba, Argentina. Avila Arzuza also acted as Music Director of Lucia de Lammermoor and Otello Opera for Teatro El Círculo in Rosario; Music Director of the L. Bernstein Opera Trouble in Tahiti for Cuidad de las Artes in Córdoba. He also featured as the Director and Artistic Producer of “Latino”, the first DVD by Córdoba Symphony Orchestra. His symphonic repertoire includes works from different styles and periods, with a special emphasis towards the great composers of the Romantic and twentieth-century eras. His great interest in the broadcasting and promotion of Latin American composers’ works makes Avila Arzuza one of the most passionate interpreters and defenders of this repertoire. |
