LIZA CHUNG
Korean born pianist, Liza Chung was raised in Chile and began her performing career at the early age of 14. She has since been successful as both soloist and chamber musician in performances world-wide. Ms. Chung has appeared in concert halls such as the Steinway Hall in New York, the Chicago Cultural Center, and the renowned Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, as well as venues throughout Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Switzerland, France, Brussels and the United States.
Ms. Chung has garnered many awards including first prizes in competitions such as the International Piano Competition-Claudio Arrau, and the Concurso Santa Cecilia in Chile. Her orchestral performances include appearances with the Santa Cecilia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orquesta Sinfonica de Concepcion in Chile, the Chamber Orchestra of Universidad Católica de Chile, the Orquesta Sinfonica de Chile, and the Philharmonic Orquestra of Buenos Aires, among others. Ms. Chung’s performances have been recorded for broadcast on radio stations in the United States, Switzerland and South America; she has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Alban Gerhardt, Mario Ancillotti, Stephan Picard, the Rossetti String Quartet, and Hernán Jara, with whom she has released a recording. Educated at Indiana University and Yale University, Ms. Chung holds graduate degrees from both institutions and has studied with the world’s most renowned pianists, including György Sebok, Reiko Neriki and Claude Frank. Other teachers include György Sandor, and Edith Fischer in Switzerland. She is currently Associate Professor of Piano at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, where she teaches both Piano and Chamber Music. Ms. Chung is in great demand as a performer, lecturer and adjudicator. |
