RAFAEL GINTOLI

​Argentine violinist Rafael Gíntoli is a graduate from the municipal Conservatory of Music of Buenos Aires.  His teachers were Profs.  Emilio Pelaia, Humberto Carfi and Szymsia Bajour.  He was given the 1968 Premio Municipal award (Buenos Aires) and, in 1972 he received a scholarship from the Mozarteum of Argentina and the Ministry of Sciences and Education of The Hague to study in Holland.

He has been performing as soloist since the age of 16 with the major orchestras of Argentina, South America and Europe, such as Sao Paulo Symphony orchestra (Brazil), Ensemble das Neue Werk of Hamburg (Germany), Radio and Televísion of Cracow, Camerata Bariloche (Argentina), Ferrara Chamber Orchestra, Teatro Massimo of Palermo, Teatro La Fenice of Venice, Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, I Giovani Cameristi of Rome (Italy), Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires (Argentina), National Symphony Orchestra of Reykjavik (Iceland), Philharmonic Orchestra of Bremen (Germany).  He has also performed at the world-renowned Italian festivals of Fermo, Pisa, Lecce, Udine and Salerno, among others.

He has featured in numerous international tours as soloist, as well as presented himself with Trío Buenos Aires in the US -- New Orleans, Washington (Kennedy Center), Los Angeles, New York -- and in Europe -- Amberes, Sofia, Kiev, Paris, Milan and Rome.

He has recorded for the RAI (Italian Radio and Television), Radio Berne, Radio Maastricht (Holland), TV Globo Brazil.

Rafael Gintoli was appointed concertino at the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, Teatro La Fenice of Venice, Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano, and Sinfonietta Roma.

He has given master classes for the Philharmonic Association of Trento, Association of Young Chamber Players of Rome, Zumaia and International Festival of Bilbao.

He has taught violin and chamber music at the Universities of Córdoba and La Plata (Argentina).

He was invited to perform with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxemburg, National Orchestra of Turkey, Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá (Colombia), and National Symphony Orchestra of Buenos Aires (Argentina) for the 1997-98 concert season.

Rafael Gintoli has held the position of First Concertino in the "Orquesta de Música Argentina Juan de Dios Filiberto" since 1993.

In 1998, he recorded for Dom Disques (France), with the Symphonisches Orchester Zurich, which was released and distributed in Europe in 1999. During the same year, Rafael Gintoli also played Alicia Terzian´s Concerto in Teatro Colón, with Jorge Rotter conducting the Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires.

He has been honored as Best Argentinean Soloist by the Argentinian Musical Critics Association.

In 2000, the Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale of Cagliari invited him to perform as soloist and conductor.  He was also invited by the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolivar of Caracas, Venezuela.

Furthermore, in 2000 he played in El Salvador and Chile the Mendelsohnn´s Concerto.

In 2001 he played  Alicia Terzian´s Vioilin concerto with the Kaoshiung Orchestra, in Taiwán. He also played the Tchaicovsky´s concerto in El Salvador.

In 2002, he presented concerts in the Konzertsaal of Lucerna (Switzerland), with conductor Pedro Ignacio Calderón; he also gave a seminar on the improvement of violin technique at the MusikHochSchule of Lucerna.

Furthermore, he performed Bruch Concerto in Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires, with the Orquesta Filarmónica.

He has been on nineteen recital tours as soloist and director of the Sinfonietta dell Teatro Lírico di Cagliari, in Sardegna.

In October 2002, he performed Wieniawski Violin Concerto No. 2 with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional; and the Alicia Terzian Concerto with Tsaloniky City Symphony (Greece).

In 2003, Gintoli performed with the State Orchestra of Mexico and with the Filarmonía Veneta (Teatro Comunale de Treviso), Colon Opera House of Buenos Aires, where he partook in many tours of Argentina.

In 2004, he performed Alicia Terzian Violin Concerto with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Mexico and was awarded, together with Paula Peluso, the Best Chamber Music Duo for the performance of the complete Beethoven Sonatas for violin and piano.

In the same year, he opened the Colon Opera House summer season, gave concerts and master classes in Slovenia as part of the International Festival in Kranjska Gora.  Likewise, he performed for the Martha Argerich Festival playing works as soloist with this title artist.

In 2005 he performed as soloist in the renowned Mozart Festwochen in Lucerna and gave master classes at the Musikhochschule.

Recently, Gintoli participated in a week of violin concerts of twentieth-century music together with the Russian Philharmonia of Moscow in Taipei, Taiwan.

Next January and February, he presents recitals both as a soloist and director with the Accademia I Filarmonici di Verona, and also in Verdi Hall (Milan) with the Guido Cantelli Orchestra.
